No need to say I was thrilled.

James Halliday saw the future.
And then he built it.
He gave us a place to go.
A place called … THE OASIS.

Recently I got a Playstation VR set for my birthday and since then I’ve spent a lot of hours in different virtual worlds. So I understand very well that in films such as Ready Player One the population spends more time in this artificial environment than in the actual world. As one already suggested at the beginning, this virtual fantasy world is alluring because there’s so much to experience. But also because you can be so much. Just like in “2047: Virtual Revolution“, it seems as if all of humanity has lost its contact with reality and is wasting their entire fortune on digital upgrades and gadgets and spend all their free time walking around in futuristic-looking VR glasses....

Ready Player One is set and good to go!

Steven Spielberg pays homage to a genre he helped to create in this rollicking and visually dazzling blockbuster adventure.
In the near future, a disillusioned human populace retreats to an infinite virtual reality called the OASIS. Inside this digital world, people use their unique avatars to hunt for clues to a huge fortune left by the deceased inventor of OASIS. The technical details are stunning. The mo-cap for the characters look very good. Tye Sheridan has the look of a distaff Miles Teller but he's a solid young leading man. While he does fine, he is a bit bl...

Ready Player One is Nerd-vana Come True

I knew after reading Ernest Cline's novel, that this love-letter to 80s pop culture was going to be headed to the big screen. What better choice, then, for director than an 80s icon himself, Steven Spielberg. While both the book and film have their issues, Spielberg puts his own spin on things, expanding the story and references and delivering a film worthy of watching again and again - if only because you'll never find everything the first time around.

Ready Player One takes place in the near future where humanity has stagnated with the escape people are looking for in a massive virtual reality playground known as the Oasis. Created by James Halliday (Mark Rylance), a mixture of Willy Wonka and Steve Jobs and his partner Ogden Marrow (Simon Pegg - in essentially a cameo role), Hallida...
